Bloody ABS light :(

When i bought my polo, the ABS light was on. :(

The bloke told me it was on because it needed a new ABS speed sensor.

I put my fault code reader on it and it came up with a code number 00283 which was indeed the passenger front ABS sensor

I got myself a new sensor from GSF for £15 and fitted it myself, it was a right bugger of a job but anyway, it all been changed but the light still comes on.

I have put my fault code reader on it again and the code 00283 had gone, however now it has a fault code of 01276, which refers to the hydraulic pump.

The chap at my local garage said i should start the car and press the brake pedal numerous times whilst the car is stationary to see if the light came on, which would indicate that the pump is buggered. It never came on and he said the pump is fine :?

He advised me to clean the "rings" at the back of the wheels as they may be dirty and causing the sensor not to read properly. I have done the front ones but havent got a clue on how to do the back ones. ?

The light doesnt come on in the mornings for about 30 mins, sometimes not at all ?

The brakes were checked over by a garage and they said that they are ok.

I wheelspun in second gear yesterday whilst going around a corner (got to get used to the car yet especially now i have lighter wheels on it) and the light came on although it had been off all day :?

It also comes on when you go over 80mph upwards (on my private road of course  ).

The other day i just went down a pot hole and it came on

Sorry for the long post guys but i was wondering if any of you lot have had any similar experience and if so, how you sorted them out ?

I might pull the bulb because it doing my head in that much

Sorry if this is in the wrong section as well, i wasnt sure where to put it

Mine comes on sometimes, normally after going over a pothole or bump like yourself. I just ignore it and put it down to a mega sensitive abs sensor

My ABS light usually comes on when i have passangers in the rear. A little engine restart usually gets the light off.

Also don't wanna state the obvious, but when ur abs light is on the abs is not on :?

Yeh there's sensor or cable for a sensor that runs somewhere underneath the rear bench that does often get tripped,

I've never found it though!

It's so annoying... Also with the extra weight of passangers, you really could use abs!

If you lift up the seats of your rear bench you'll see some wires and there's a connector on the drivers side and one on the passenger side! If i remember rightly, the passenger side wires and connector are to do with the hand brake, and the drivers side is for the ABS. Just unplug properly, the re-plug, turn engine back on and the light should be gone!

Remember after a weekend away with our lass the ABS light came on, so whilst in some traffic got her to jump into the rear and check the connections! Really needed my ABS to be working as the weather was terrible. Proper lagging it down!!!
