recently theres been a lot of talk about colour coding handles so i havd a day of yesterday so decided im gonna have a go myself..... im happy with the results....... here goes......

firstly the undoing, the recessed torque screw top right needs undoing.

Image

then u push the handle forward towards the front of the car, then the rear end should pull out first followed by the front end.

Image

once removed i sanded it to roughen it then spray it with plastic primer.

Image

then after a couple of coats the top coat couple of coats then the lacquer. once the lacquer is applied its best to leave it for atleast a couple of hours to give the lacquer a better drying time, otherwise if u rush it ull end up starting again.... i know.

Image

after it was done i wanted to see wat it looked like on the car......

Image

then wat it looks like with both handles done......

Image

im pretty impressed altho i did manage to break one of the lock barrels. so i have a dillema, do i get a new lock so i got both front doors with the key lock or do i just blank of the passenger side so its only got the lock on the drivers side?

also i fitted my gti splitter to............ only took me about 30 seconds literally. start from the middle then work out.

later today i'll put the pics up of wat ive done on the inside as well......... hopefully u'll like it........

Good stuff. Loose the lock. You can get a blanking plate from vagparts.

Nice mate, definitely get a rear 5-door handle and blank the front passenger side, I can't see the point in it being there to be honest!

my thoughts exactly, after all not having central locking means i dont really need a lock on the passenger side as i most of the time open it from inside anyway....

im thinking in the near future of getting the rear handles removed totally and just having the 2 front ones. seen it befor on a polo and thought it looks sweet.....

Yeh Joe's done it on his mark 4 (either that or he's photoshopped his sig!),
However I feel 5-doors are made because they are more practical than 3-doors, and taking the rear handles out means they are less practical! Sorta of defeats the object in my opinion.

as i said in the first post, i was gonna post some pics of wat i been doing inside tonight.... bit later then planned. hopefully u will like it. i think it looks pretty sweet.

firstly the silver bit u see i did but then touched the lacquer befor it dried properly so i redid it along with the driver side vent and light switch sorround.

Image

then after some sanding, plastic primer again and lacquer its finished. but this time i left it for about 3 hours to dry befor i put it back in my car.

Image

now this is how it looks back in the car in all its glory witht he switches back in place.....

Image

and i also did the centre bit where the heating controlles are. did do the passenger side heater grill to but didnt do photos of that.

Image

hopefully thursday i'll do the centre bits that have the 2 heaters and hazard light button on........

li think it will look nice when its complete....... wat u think?

Look good mate, your 6 lower switches look a tad messy though, what do they all the extra switches do?

yea i noticed that, i was thinking they ruin the pic. the green one i believe is blank. used to do the neons under the car befor one got ripped of going over a slightly raised mini roundabout so i ended up taking them of but left the switch as theyre would of been a whole otherwise. the red one does the light in my parcel shelf.... the black button does the boot popper and the led is the alarm. might see if i can get a couple more and swap the bad ones over and maybe spray them.

Well done on the door handles and splitter bud :) Its nice to see it on the car finally! As for the interior spraying, not my cup of tea, but youve done a good job on it nonetheless!

The handles look good, but not keen on the interior stuff.

If I was you, I'd replace the front grill and the rear lights.

I like the handles, tidy.

Personally I thought the interior ones looked pretty good, better than I thought it would.
