So, this past weekend I finally got around to doing my head gasket, tapet cover gasket and exhaust gasket and putting everything back together. Good news is that the engine starts and purrs like a baby with no white smoke. Bad news: I've got a problem, coolant everywhere!
I'm not sure if I'm missing a rubber o-ring or what... I wish I could take a picture of it, but will try to describe it as best as I can. It is the lowest pipe on the 'water circulator' (i think that's what it is). Basically, it's the assembly of hoses which are right below the distributor, the biggest of the hoses on the bottom - the one with a horseshoe clip - is just leaking out water while the engine is off.
The Haynes manual isn't very helpful on this so I was wondering if anyone out there has come into this problem before. Any help would be appreciated!
Could use some help - coolant everywhere! :)
if its what i think your on about, the pipe pushes in and the clip pushes over it? if so there should be an 'O' ring in there before the pipe goes in.
on the golf they came with like a ptfe tape kinda thing that pushed over the end, they have changed it to an 'O' ring on the etka now because it was poope
