Morning all

Woke up this morning to find that my central lockings playing up (apparently a common fault on the 6n2.....). I turned the lock and nothing and then greeted by the windows going down.

Theres no action when turning the key but from the inside the locks are fine. Does anyone know if this is the locks, pump or mico switches :? Getting loads of info off the net but dont have a clue which one it is

Got it booked into the local VW tomorrow but want to go armed with some knowledge. Anyone had anything similar and to the cost to fix?

cheers
Ross

what has happened

the metal cam which connects the door lock to the solinoid has broken, costs about 8 quid for all the bits for one door, its a pig of a job when you first do it, but it gets easier for the second time round

i have done both of mine now, its best if you have a vice handy or unless ur a freak with three hands lol!

i'll try and find part numbers for you also if you do it yourself ask the parts person for an exploded view diagram to see how it goes together

to remove the door lock DO NOT REMOVE THE DOOR CARD.
open the door and you should see a black torx head screw, remove this and slide handle to front of car, and pull the lock end out, job done repeat in reverse to reassemble

god this search function is great for finding old posts lol :D :D

just found old post with part numbers you may need,
http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/poloforum/v ... ae7e5f597a

as reading back on other posts to find this, your windows will wind down off the key because the cam has broken, thus lying in soleinoid and when key is put in lock and makes contact with cam pushes the mirco switch that operates the windows,

sorry for above rant but tried to explain to another member and said it wanst the cause, of which i can guantee 99% it was, if you require anymore help, u just gotta ask :D

well I gave in and went to VW yesterday, had another car for the day and thought i'd be easier for them to sort it then have the car without locks for another day.... :?

Next time think I'll try the diy route, it cost me £90odd but thanks for the info....at least I know what the costs are for now
