Spent a few hours today ripping off bits of the car. Here's how it looks now:

I thought it looked bad in its winter height, but this is far, far worse. Oh well. The result should make me forget the effort and uglyness.

:D

Stock all the way gents.

It's going in for a respray this week, so it's been stripped of its bumpers, sidelights, mirrors... etc.

Alex you going for a full respray ?.

Mine's rusting around the lower rear arches quite a bit now, I think I need to get that sorted this year  .

Well not a complete respray, really. The roof and boot lid aren't being painted but other than that it's 'complete'.

I haven't noticed any rust around the arches, but perhaps I just didn't see - I hope there won't be any surprises. I guess that if the bodyshop notices any rust they'll let me know about it and take care of it. But, again - it seems to be fine at the moment!

Alex I didn't notice either until a big flake of paint came off when I was hosing it down.
The forward edge of the arch where it joins the sill is in the line of fire from stones thrown by the rear wheels  .

Hope it'll be ok Chris, haven't examined it that closely to be honest...

Lets pray there aren't any surprises!

(Picking it up on Friday the 13th though - not the best timing in the world)

Thanks Geezer,

They're not shaved actually, just haven't fitted them yet...

I've CC'd them however, hoping that they'd blend in a bit better. Will fit them tomorrow, along with the rest of the bits.

I considered filling the holes in the bonnet, but I was too lazy/tired to find an alternative method to mount the jets. I've heard of people fitting them to the plastic bit that surrounds the wipers, or the wiper arms themselves (using LT35 jets)... Didn't persue it any further tbh.

The mirrors are Mk5 units, actually, makes life much easier than the G4 ones.

LT35 jets?
have just got my bonnet done, and had the washers smoothed over, was thinkin of using mercedes sprinter van jets, or i believe porsche used a similar set up a while back? IIRC

what r these LT35 jets?

any other pics of ur paintwork?-not tempted to do any mods before paint?
