Haynes manual says after the 95reg in the UK the clutch adjustment was set to manual. My main interest is adjusting the clutch bite, apparently the thing looks similar to the throttle valve adjustment cable. But where do I find it and any advice or cautions to take?[/i]

clutch cable automaticaly adusts itself

^^ thought that myself. Probably would've found it by now if it had one.

The cable adjusts automaticaly, but you can change the cable to a manual one, i did that, then you can adjust the clutch bite as you like.

It is not easy, but you can do it yourself if you have some skills.

Thats intresting Haynes says:

"All models were fitted with an automatic adjustment system up to May 1995. From this date, left hand drive models were fitted with a modified automatic adjuster system, while right hand drive (eg UK market) models reverted back to manually-adjusted cable"

I think my 97 reg has a manual clutch adjustable with a high bite point but I'm getting a 99 reg soon and the bite is so low that if my toe twitches I'll prob creep into someones back bumper, not sure if that is automatic adjustable.

Whats the easiest way to tell if its automatic and where can I get a manual adjustable cable? How much work are we looking at if I was t switch to manual?

The gearstick will have P - D - N - R on it. A manual will have 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 -5 - R.

I'd imagine an automatic one adjusts the bite point continuously as the clutch wears off at a guess? Whilst the manual one would have one set point for the bite no matter how worn or un-worn the clutch is?

Anyone can shine any light on this?
