Well took my polo down to VW this mornin to get the noise of the turbo checked. Well seems my turbo is feked! SO a new one is gettin ordered today! :P

A asked the guy what they thot it was and he said it wasnt gettin lubricated and runnin dry, but TBH a dont think they know what is up with it, think they took it a run, heard the noise and just said fit a new one.
Anyway, they didnt even ask if my car had been modified or anythin so good old APR wins again! :P

The turbo still spools after i take the foot off the accelerator where as the noise stops. Maybe my actuator/wastegate?

Does anyone know if a new turbo comes with a new actuator?

Another case of a warranty claim on a modified car. I can't believe VW haven't cottoned on to the fact that a lot of the GTIs are chipped.

Do you not think that the garages sometimes turn a blind eye to it cos they will get paid from VW anyway, so makes no difference to them.

Ditto that Kenny. I'm pleased for you because your dealer found the fault quickly and agreed to replace the turbo instead of trying to repair it.

Yes,

I know for a fact that VW chip their diesel test cars that people take out.

The garage is not bothered cos they still get paid but only if the part is defective if on returning the turbo to the manufacturer and its found not faulty then the garage has to pay for the part and labor LOL. Well when my t4 needed a new wastegate had to order a full turbo cos they come together they said. I didnt pay cos its the AA's van anyway LOL

true. one of my mates works for a brand new division of BMW specifically aiming at stopping false warranty claims by garages and so on. it's costing them millions.

The noise I have been goin on about has been gettin worse over the days. Usually it only starts when the turbo kicks in and stops when it take the foot off the accelerator. But when i started my car this mornin the noise was there so i popped the hood and had a listen, am 95% sure the noise is comin from the 3 way valve/ soleniod (not sure) that the DV vaccum connects to. Part number 028 906 263 n.

Does anyone have any idea what this valve does or had any problems with it? Just lookin for some info?

I took my 07 GTI back to VW as the 12v Socket in the ashtray stopped working...they told me it had been replaced but when I got the car back it still didnt work!!! I had to book it in with them again, The only good thing was, they gave me a Golf with a DSG gearbox to drive for two days
