Original door pin :(

Remove door pin, window winder (if youve got it!), and door handle cover, undo screws behind it, pull off door trim at bottom working round until all clips are off.

Using a round file elongate hole as necessary.

Very nice, do you think the 9n3 ones would go in or work? There similar but when locked they are not sticking out at all and when unlocked they look like the 6n2 pins in a locked position.

If not I might do what you did, did you get the parts from breakers or a spares dealer?

Beadles, Princess road :P

Thats not to bad, but don't the rods have grooves? So if you where to cut them down what would you do the the rod ends so that the new pins would screw on, any advice?

I've shortened my door door pins, and although it's recommeneded to glue them back on once cut the rod, I didnt bother.

Once you've cut the rod, your left with quite a jagged edge, and this grips the doorpins very very well. Once they're on you'll have an effort getting them back off.

So just cut the rods down and push the pins back on.

Thanks for that Tim, how much or how can I tell by how much I'd have to cut it down and what tool you use to cut the rods?

Measure the pins before hand and work out how much you want to take off, leave a few mms give though, you dont want them being too small!!

I used a combination of sharp pliers, a coping saw and twisting them with a mole wrench.

Thanks, my only concern about measuring up before hand is that the 6n2 pins look shorter than my current 6n's which means I could end up cutting them down to much? or they the same length?

In that case just put the 6N2 ones on first without cutting the rods, then measure them up.

Once you've got that measurement take them back off and cut away!

Do you have to take the door cards off to file the hole?

Also, what do you fix the surrounds down with?

I found it easier with the door cards off and it will only take an extra minute.

You can buy the surroundings at dealers with the pins, be careful with them as their quite brittle, I broke one when fitting the pins, also its common once fitted to hear the pins scraping a bit when locking.

I've got the pins and surrounds, got them from Beadles in Dartford for £1.20! Do you need to stick the surrounds down?
