A Polo! Mk1/2/3

Hi there, I'm really interested in buying my first Polo.
I'm a Mini man, and have had a couple Minis and still love them. My Mini is a little unpracticle though with the rollcage etc so I'm looking to buy a Polo as I think they look awesome.
I'd prefer a MK2 or MK3, my student budget is fairly limited, I'm not fussed about a bit of body work or welding as I can do all that. Around 300-500 would be best.
MOT would be nice, a reliable engine is essential and the smaller the better, I have my 140bhp Mini for speed
I'll be going for the rat look, burnt bonnet and all, so I don't care about colour ;P
