I've thought about it, my eyes are crap and I spend £27 a month on contacts as it is so the money isn't a problem but it does worry me that I might have it and end up worse off. I guess thats why I still havn't done it yet. I think the idea of someone shooting a laser in my eye is just too creepy!

i have also thought about it but as yet haven't got it done. Not particularly the money side of things as if its done correctly then its gotta be worth every penny.
on the subject of things going wrong, i'm guessing its the same situations as some forms of plastic surgery, where its a back street job.
i'm sure if you go to a well known and most importantly, recommended eye specialist, then you will more thn likely get a top job, and a proper support system afterwards.

Its something I might consider in a few years time, hopefully by that time the technique will be perfect and they won't mess up :P A mate of my dad had it done a couple of years back and said it was the best thing he's ever done... As Dan said, if you go to a recommended place with a good reputation I'd be surprised if you came away not feeling satisfied...

Both my dad and stepdad have had this done and say it's one of the best well spent money things they've done. I'd have it but unfortuantly you have to be over 21 with a stable eye strength for 3-4 years I can't remember exactly.

Only thing that concerns me is that because it's reletavly new, people don't know what the long term effect will be for when they are much older.

Im thinking of getting it done also. The thing is with things like this when doing research on people are more likely to advertise their bad experiences than people who have had good experiences.
Two of my family have had it done and are really pleased with it. Im going to be getting it done but just have enquire as to availibility.

I guess the best way to find one is use one that someone you know has been to?

If you have to have had stable eye strength for 3-4 years I wouldn't be able to have it anyway, mine keep getting worse every 2 years or so.

I went to see a company in St Albans (will find out which one as they were really good and PM you!) a few years ago (I was 18), unfortunately my prescription was not stable enough and also there was a issue with the thickness of my cornea and would have not been a simple operation but that's irrelevant lol

My line manager has had it done and said it was the best thing she has ever done but now needs glasses for reading, she has been told its more likely to be with aging.

Thats one thing that puts me off, I don't want to be spending loads of money only to end up wearing glasses for most things a couple of years on.

I know 2 people that have had it done and they too report that it is "the best thing they've ever had done"
It has absolutely no affect on your reading sight so you'll need reading glasses later on regardless of the operation.
I'm not sure how true this next bit is, but i've heard that everyone's reading sight begins to deteriorate from age of 40 anyway - no exceptions. :?

i thought about getting it done but to be honest am to worried about something going wrong. fair enough theres a 1 in a very high number of something going wrong but u could be that one..... altho people always say it'll never happen to me...... untill it does then reality settles in.

im not a easy person to convince but was thinking of having it but dont think i can bring myself to the thought of a laser on my eye. as its your eye sight your playing with, something goes wrong with that and ur life will completely change.

on the other hand my cousin had it done and i got told she as told something about u cant drive at night weather thats just for a while after the op or a long term thing i dont know. cant see it being long term tho.
