Tail pipes in or out?

Hi there everyone! I've been reading the forum over the past couple of months, mainly to fix all the niggling faults on my wifes 1.6 8v, though I've been inspired enough to start updating it!

I've bought a set of 16v bumpers and a Cat back SS exhaust, though I can't decide if I should cut the bumpers to have the tail pipes showing, or have the twin round tail pipes taken of the back box and replaced with some tdi style down pipes, so that you can't see them?

The bumpers are getting sprayed next week and I keep changing my mind. I like to see the tail pipes, though when the bumper has been cut, there's no intentional moulding, which looks doesn't look very oem. Anyone seen any good examples of cut bumpers?

Personally I think a downpipe is best to IF your definetly going down the euro route, which keep your bumper smooth as it is. If you defo want a twin pipe then the example below is probably one of the best i've seen. Belongs to 'Dubbing', me London homeboy 8)

Cheers for that NOZ, that really is a very nice car! I like the way the pipes cut well into the bumper, rather than just a bit and sit low. I think I might take off the heat shields, so that I can mount the back box as high as possible.

I prefer the subtle downpipe, makes the rear look smoother.

I'd go with the sutble look also and have it hidden.

Maybe I'm just being too conservative and need to go for something a bit more unique...

BUT if it had t obe a barryboy style then perhaps go for a custom set of pipes shaped in the VW logo

I've seen a few Audi pipes, though I think I'll be getting out the hacksaw and welding on some down pipes. Then I don't have to cut the bumper and can keep the Polo a bit more sleeper!

I've become slightly tile pipe spotting obsessed...though I can't believe what some people want to drive with attached to their car.
