logged onto msn for the first time in ages and my ex from about 4 years ago starts talking to me. going on about his amazing new car (chavy astra). and i thought i'd be polite and i said i'm into dubs now. n he was like wtf is a dub. n then he started about how all dubs are ugly, and touregs are sh**....etc
he then goes "oh cmon! give me one example of a good looking VW" n he gave me no chance to reply before he said "exactly u cant im going to watch a film now i rulle"
made me so mad because i was there defending something i'm into, and i just thought why am i even bothering, it makes absolutely no difference to him and he's not listening to anything i'm saying, why doesn't he just f off!
i wonder why he's an ex.............c*ck

apologies for my awful language, very unlady-like!

anyone else have trouble explaining to people the appeal of dubs?

Yes I've owned my GTi for coming on a year now, and friends and family are only just starting to get the idea!! They still think I'm a clean freak who needs to get a life though lol.

all i hear is 'i want a golf, a golf gti.'

that is the most annoying phrase anyone can say.

they know nothing about 'dubs' but seem to presume the golf gti is the best, i know what i mean anyway.

jhaha thats why exs ar exs! Not everyone appreciates dubs, it seems vauxhall and vdub owners seem to clash opinions a bit, ive had som guy going "...but why wld u modify a ..POLO?!" i was like "..why wld u drive an astra van when u have an office job?!" my friends used to give me so much stick when i had the leon, then as soon as i got rid of it they all said i was mad for parting with such a nice car!

Some people understand, some don't. Theres a guy at my work who thinks I'm a complete nutjob. He winds me up by telling me than my car is chavvy because the exhaust sticks out the back and it has a bodykit. I tried explaining that its all taken from other vw cars but he doesn't understand at all.

He does get upset when I explain how much I would whip his arse in his 125bhp astra, hehe.

most people understood about my polo but that was maybe because it was very scene!

everyone just laughs at my golf and says its a grandads car

luckily my mrs loves dubs and has a beetle

a few of my friends are into cars, one has a chavved up astra (no honestly its been on Barryboys) which has airbrushed women on the side, and is currently in a very poor state! he always used to tease how slow my old polo was and that it was a "girls car".

then i took him for a ride in my leon 1.8t and he soon shut up, then he thought it was well funny how i changed to a diesel ibiza, and again he soon shut up when he couldn't see my arse for dust

another mate teased me for a while because i was getting a diesel, but he changed his opinion when i took him for a spin

on the subject of exs and cars, none of mine were really into them. my g/f Hollie wasn't until she met me and then i took her to the VW Expo about 3 years ago. Never been the same since

she has more plans for her car than i do for mine!!!

Ahh ex's. I've been single 3 years in July so they are all but a distant memory to me. I hardly get enough time for my friends and my GTI never mind girlfriends

it 'used' to be a nice 1.6 16v astra with a sports pack kinda thing, he added a subtle bodykit, which i quite liked, and i'm not one for bodykits really, then he got stoopid!

guy sounds like a tosser, just tell him to p*** off and find some l.e.d jet washer lights to go toss off over

its true though, some ppl just dont get the dub scene everyone took the p*** out of my gti till i lowered it 120mil and stuck RM's on...then nothing was said until i sold it...all i got was 'why did you get rid of that car, it was so cool..your new one is chav!'
