Having loaded my card up paying for my new gearbox, clutch and other bits and pieces, my card was a couple of hundred quid away from it's limit. Thankfully I have a small limit on the card, today I had an email from them (EGG) telling me I was over my limit, I was like WTF!!!. Had a look at my statement and someone has withdrawn a couple of hundred quid from RBS/Tesco in Ardleigh???, wherever that is. Seriously stressed as I have never had this before, has anyone had this and how receptive was your credit card company/bank to sorting the issue out???

Ah man that sucks!! Have not idea how easy it is to get your money back or anything, but I hope you get it sorted.
Have you lost a card at all?

Na, that's the p*** take. Some how someone has got my card details, it's a real pain in the ass as I now have to convince the CC company that the transactions are not mine.

I'm not sure how you go about finding evidence that the money wasn't spent by you, but usually they refund the money and give you a new card fairly easily. Best to just ring them up and see what they say.
Unfortunately you can't let you card out of your sight these days!

Find out the exact times and dates of when the money was stolen, then you can work out where you were at that exact time. And if it were work say, you'd have valid proof?

Exactly - if you can prove you were in one place at a certain time and the transactions happened within minutes but somewhere else in the country, then it can't be you can it!
Natwest stopped my debit card after it got scammed, transactions were attempted in Calais only about 60 minutes after I had used it to pay for fuel in Shropshire!
To be honest, credit accounts have a lot more fraud protection than debit accounts so you should be able to sort things out with relative ease. Give your credit card company a ring and they should sort you out.
Cheers

Ardleigh tescos? you dont think they mena ardleigh green road tescos? Is that a possibility. you must know where i mean right? If so they ahve a camera on the chash machine so maybe you could go about proving it that way.
If nto then dont most tescos have surveilance cameras on their machines. if you get the time and date from the statement you might be able to get it sorted!
s**t luck though mate i feel for ya.

That's a point, nearly every cash machine in the country has a surveillance camera....

one of my managers from work had this problem but it was money taken out of her account from another country so god knows how they got the details but she said the card company are gonna give it back to her.
as for cash machines im careful with them..... well up till today anyway.
i normally go to cash machines where cameras arnt facing the machines and check the bit u put ur card in to see if its been tamptered with or got one of those fake faces on it.
if i go to a cash machines i always check theres no camera facing it and check the machine is ok. also that no one is around that looks dodgy. if i see n e of this i dont put my card in the cash machine i go to a different one.
today however, i went to guildford, went to a cash machine to check my money and there was 2 next to each other, put my card in and went to check the balance then went to take it out and it ate my card up and said the reader wasnt working. so i stayed at the machine to make sure it didnt spit it out then i rang up my bank and they cancelled it and im gonna get a new one in about a weeks time. didnt eat n e one elses card tho. think i looked dodgy as i was watching people on that machine and then 2 security guards were watching me but i think they realised i was on the fone to my bank to cancel my card so they walked of shortly befor me. trust me to pick the dodgy one......oh well

I had that problem in Cornwall last year, cash machine at a supermarket ate my card for no reason and then continued to be perfectly normal with every other customer. I did the same as you, called the bank and they cancelled it then had to go and find a branch of the bank to draw some money out!

This happened to me...only natwest realised before I did, they sent me a letter to say my card was being used abnormally and to ring them, which I did, they listed off tonnes of stuff I had no idea about! they refunded all the money but they knew exactly what had been stolen and what hadnt, they also told me they would send me a letter with details and they never did......they were suspiciously efficient and when I asked how it could have happened they said there could have been a number of reasons, but I rarely used the card, it wasnt even in my wallet it was at home, I was so shocked and felt completely violated! My guess is someone inside got my information, which is why natwest handled it so well!
Ring Egg and tell them it wasn't you, cancel (which im sure you have already) and try and get them to refund you...
i know how you feel though, I was fumming, even though I got my money back, I was thinking some little sh1t has got my details, and is using money I don't have (I'm always skint) and I've worked frigging hard for and they think they can just take it off you?!?! I was fumming!!

I had the same thing happen to me just before christmas.
I had used it in my local chinese and at b+q (never did find out which one was responsible) and about £350 had gone.
My bank called me to say there had been some abnormal activity on my account and asked me to confirm which transactions were actually mine.
There were 28 transactions all together that were unexplained (and all to US porn sites!)
Some were for £3/4 (
obviously the lower class tottie!) and they went up to £80.
Anyway, Abbey Nat got their fraud team onto it and I had all the funds refunded within around 10 days or so and a new card within 4 days.
Good luck, i'm sure it'll all get sorted.
