Whole dash "flashes" fleetingly ..

Hi Guys,

My wife has a Polo 2003 ( Mark IV, I think ). Here in Cork City, Ireland.

We had the car in for the compulsory NCT test late last week. Since then - over the weekend and last few days - while driving - the dash "Flashes" out of the corner of your eye, then two things are evident:

1. The clock is reset, as in wrong time
2. One of the dash lights remains on.

Over the weekend the Power Steering dash light remained on. Turn off engine and stayed off after reignition. She arrived home today and just outside the door the dash "Flashed" again, clock gone again but this time the Power Steering light remained on AND the Airbag light stayed on. Engine off / back on again - this time the airbag light is staying constantly on now.

Any ideas? Experiences of this? While discussing with a buddy we thought maybe a short, the Altenator, the battery ... I checked the latter, the wiring is locked solid to the battery ... Appreciate any input,

Cheers
Aidan

Hi Guys,

Relative to this issue - BEWARE POLO OWNERS:

http://www.carsurvey.org/viewcomments_review_45151.html

Huge thread of grief from 2004 to now.

Reading this now is like a house of horrors - lights flashing on and off, mysterious happenings. Not very funny - seems once your polo suffers this even the VW Dealers havent a clue how to fix it.

Not so cheers
Aidan

Hi Guys,

To continue the saga - My Wife just rang from work - she went out to the polo to come home - car now turns but wont start. She has got the AA on the way. SO - we have gone from intermittent lights on and off on the dash to now not starting.

Jeez,
Pure Junk - you can understand my shagrin :(
Aidan!
