HI guys, i've just joined as i got a black 3dr 2000 Polo GTI on the weekend :)

I love the car to bits, however...

This morning on the way to work i was in a bit of a 'rush' and was getting good performance throughout - but after around 8-10 minutes it was as if the car suddenly got slower.

The issue feels as if i did have 125bhp, but now i have about 70 ?!

I cant hear any different noises or see any error lights come on on the dash, its just much slower in all gears :( ? Engine temp was bang on 50% and was running no hotter than normal.

I'm going to go for a quick drive up the road on my lunchbreak to see if its still occuring.

Does anyone have any ideas, or am i gonna have to take an expensive trip down to VW?

cheers,

Fuel filter and or air filter could be blocked.....when were they last changed?

If you were ragging it, its possible it has dropped into limp home mode, one of the things this does is switch off the VVT actuator....which will loose you a fair bit of power...

It sometimes resets itself, but if you were ragging it very hard and got unlucky, one of the sensors might have gone parrot....

cheers tegwin, think you nailed that f**ker on the head there.

Just went for a quick drive and its rapid now lol! seems a simple turn off/on worked a treat.

nice one.

If it does it again, take it to a garage and get them to run vagcom through it, for it may well be one of sensors is tripping it.

UPDATE:

coming home today my car died.

was cruising at 50 and it slipped out of 5th gear twice... then, when overtaking someone the car lost all gears and i had to pull over :(

AA had to toe me home, he seemed to think that the gear linkage is messed up and seems to have come loose?!

*sigh* more exspense
