The cars only 5 years old and the drivers seatbelt is fraying fast.
Am i right in thinking this is an MOT failure ?
Vw build quality and materials are shocking, upto now my list of things to fix is not getting any smaller, as follows.........
Drivers Seatbelt failed
Reverse Light switch failed
Rear window washer failed
Drivers door lock Barrell failing !
Now the weathers warming up i'll have to get stuck into this list.
Just out of curiosity has anyone heard of a seatbelt failing so soon ?
Thank you.

So, I take it that this car has already had some of the big hitting items - ie ARB and TCA bushes taken care off already?
(later) Whoops, I forgot, you've had the ARB done already!

Upto now i've had done.........
New ARB and Bushes.
New Vac Pipes. (due to engine cutting out)
New Brake Discs (Original Vw Discs Warped !)
New Coil Packs
This is a totally standard car with no mods.
BTW what are the TCA Bushes ?
Thanks.

(Front) TCA rear bushes are these nasty voided bushes that you can see if you look under the car - from under the front doors look forwards and see where a black tubular track control arm (thing that locates the front wheels one easch side) seems to fix to an aluminium lump with a large, in your case voided bush. These bushes tear and cause the front whels to lose good location - ie they can wander! The trick with these cars is when they need replaced, get a VAG indepy to fit the Seat Ibiza Cupra solid ones in their place - see Briskoda for more info on this topic. I got this done to my wife's 1.4SE Polo when them needed changing - the solid ones should easily outlast the voided ones by many many years/miles and do give a more solid feel to the front end.
Now, seeing as you have mentioned brakes, I checked over my daughter's older model Ibiza the other day and discovered that someone had replaced either one or both front discs with genuine VAG discs - it had been a lease car so it would have been a Seat garage - probable in Liverpool - O/S disc was the previous model 18mm new thickness and N/S disc was correct 20mm new thickness!! How quaint and how professional as the "height" of both discs were differant - okay so the floating calliper could tolerate this. The wrong (thin) disc was corroded half way up the rear face! Not good, and another brake story, I do all my own servicing on my Passat, so it was a bit of a shock when I removed the N/S wheel (first time since VW dealer replaced hub bearings a few months ago) to replace the headlight washer pump, and noticed that the garage can cut the brake wear sensor wires and presumably twisted them together inside the new bit of insulating tape that is now fitted to that section of wiring harness - how professional once again!!!

I'm going to be looking to sell mine sometime soon, i'm thinking of going down the jap road, maybe Honda, Toyota.
You say replacing the Tca bushes made the front seem more solid, since i had the ARB done it doesn't feel any better and i have read somewhere that i should have had the 4 wheel alignment done at the same time. Vw never recommended this ? such a professional outfit !
I have heard about some garages fitting the wrong pads without the sensor and yes that is a common trick they do with the wire, fix one problem, create another ! smart.
