Trip to pristine wheels

went today to pristine, a 330 mile round trip, taking me over 5 hours all in, only to be told by someone completely different to who i spoke to yesterday as they was not prepared to diamond turn my wheels, as they are a painted finish not bare metal, due to risk of pitting

why the hell could they not of just said this on the phone yesterday

to say im pee'd off is a large understatement, and to top it all off, im getting steering wheel judder when i brake firmly :(

awesome gti said they suspect the issue to lie in the wishbone bushes, as the braking pressure is much greater, the force on these increases too

so i need seat sport ones on the rear of the wishbone and power flex solid ones on the front to cure this, great

and to top off a totally rubbish day, my car is plastered, and i mean plastered with road kill from the trip, and im that nackered i dont want to clean it

happy flaming days

hey just said with them not being a machined wheel as standard the chances are there will be pitting in the cast of the wheel, so when they diamond turn it, it will highlight lots of mini holes in the wheel

they said they were not willing to take the risk and basically thanks but no thanks

really fooked off big time

so overall, a rubbish day off and i have work to look forward to now for the rest of the week

will be getting the bushes sorted on my day off next week, so fingers crossed they cure the steering judder on braking

anyone else noticed any benifits from having the seat sport and powerflex bushes installed, pro's/con's etc

I can't see that happening though Tim. The old his word against theirs comes to mind here (I'm not doubting you were told they could do it though Jeff, does my head in when you get conflicting stories from different people!)

IMO though they should have gave you that warning but said we'll still do it if you want us to.

whitegtipolo, edited just for you

but in fairness, calling you a 'too', or a 'tool' on a forum is silly, just read a sarcastic reply in the heat of the moment and reacted, so i appologise

but seriously is there a problem, only your replies to me and in fairness, most of the others are normally of a manner such as

why bother, just do this instead
serves you right
sarcastic

just thought i would ask

Jeff, not sure if you have an alternative company to go to for your wheels but it might be worth giving these guys a call 1st. They're called bjv engineering and their prices undercut most others you'll find.

http://www.wheelrefurbishing.com/

They have done a couple of sets of wheels for my boyf with excellent results.

Not the best photos but.... (cost almost half the price that pristine quoted!)
