Well my MK4 had its MOT today heh, and failed on some issues with the suspension, they said is was splitting and needed new brushes or something. What was more interesting was that they also failed it on the fact that i had those Philips Blue Vision bulbs in the headlights... are they not legal? or is it simply because they are 'blue' bulbs and therefore that means an MOT failure? weird... ah well, total bill is going to be £180 so i'll have to get saving

Failing the car because of the light can't be right. They are E-coded, right?
Didn't get any remarks on mine last time...
Different country, different rules perhaps.

im so sure the bulbs are road legal, and on the site i checked just now it says 'EC37 approved for use in Europe'. Told the garage to keep my philips bulbs they're taking out so i can put them back in later because they were going to throw them away

the "brushes" u mention could be bushes, which are little rubber thingys in ur suspension wishbones and on ur exhaust mounts. u should upgrade to polyurethane bushes while ur at it. means ull have a harder ride but with improved handling. they also last for much longer and some companies claim make ur tyres last longer. kits are around £100 but the fitting will cost quite abit maybe another £100, its probably why u got the £180 quote. check out
www.powerflex.co.uk for more details on them. its well worth it ive used em before and there amazing, and seeing ur getting it done anyway it means its a mod that boosts ur handling and gets ur car mot'ed
