I've went into the garage to get my brake disc and pads changed, and when I turned on the engine the front brake pad worn indicator is on.

Can anyone help me?

Do you mean that the original discs and pads were worn, but not worn enough to force this light on - but now that you have had them replaced the light is on? Did they fit genuine VW pads with one wear indicator on the lefthand side?

Perhaps they forgot to connect the wire from the pad worn indicator on the pad.. ???

Cannot remember all the lights that come on the dash... but maybe needs some brake fluid ??

Whatever... the light shouldnt be on so go straight back...

I've asked about the light at the place I got the brakes done, the new pads which I'm using (Predator Pads) don't have a wire or some sort to connect the warning light indicator wire.

There seems to be quite alot of pressure in needing to press the brake pedal to make the brakes feel effective. Is that normal for new brakes?

Yeh new pads need bedded in for a hundred miles or so.

and in regards to the clip that sorts your light on

all you need to do is run a piece of wire to complete the circuit and it will be all good!

New brakes can feel quite dull at first - almost dissapointing - but they soon get better as they bed in.

I just put new disks and pads on my Audi A4 and at first they were just as bad as the knackered ones I took off.. but within 50 miles they were much better and now 1,000 miles on they are superb again :-)

As KC says just use some wire or paperclip in the connector near the caliiper to complete the circuit... then the light on the dash will be gone.

Two useful things that you could do:- 1) get a knackered front disc pad complete with wear sensor from any VAG car (from dealer's scrap bin), cut off the plug leaving a couple of inches of lead sticking out then bare both wires and solder them together - then plug this connector back into its socket. This will complete the circuit AND protect the mating connector contacts for future use. 2) Tape up the car mounted mating connector to keep any moisture out to allow its future use and get someone with VAG-COM to disable the wear sensor warning - this will mean that you lose the protection that this feature gives you in respect of the rear brake pads. Two things to consider, does the garage that did this work ever consider what would happen if these pads were fitted and, will your insurance company be happy with this car being run with this brake wear warning disabled as it was part of the original "safety features". Always check that any "performance" pads that you fit have been supplied for fit for road use and carry the correct certification - if only to avoid you hitting any of us while being uninsured!

The brakes are improving now. As for the connector thing, I have no idea how to do that. Thanks for the info.
