im guessing it will be speedlaw that answers this but, here it goes :D

im lookin at making my BBS splits 8" wide so they look the dogs on the corrado, but they will be primarily run on the pol, will it take it ? am i better going 7.5"?

and what tires? 175's? or 195's be better, they should really cope with 140mph now i think about it...

ON this note i been reading the forum for a few weeks now while i been sorting out my licence but this is my first post and i looking at getting a polo now i passed, i am off to see one tomorow in fact, ( a nice t reg 1.4 cl 6n ) i am thinking about wheels and i am wanting to fit some nice new
16" alloys with toyo Proxes T1-S.
But the smallest Proxes T1-S they do on a 16" is a 215/40ZR16 7.0-8.5
will there be any problem with running this size wheel and tyre??
ie rubbing at all ?
I know that normaly you would want a 195/40 16 but toyo don't do one as far as i know? they do do 195/45R16 tho, Witch would be best ?

Also would 7.0 rims be any prob at all with them size tyres? i looking for a simple upgrade to make the car look better :D ( simple is the key with me lovers)

i have read alot of the old posts about tyre sizes on here but i not found one that deals with the problem with the toyo T1-S's

Now i could go for a 15" and just surcomvent the problem alltogether but i am sure the car would look better and run better on 16"'s than 15"'s any help would be lovely :D

( i will prob be asking about a few things in the near presant :D , mainly just pointing a new polo modder in the right direction needed :D )

pmsl

you keep telling yourself that.

15's for handling, on 195/45's. no rubbing, even when decked. any bigger, especailly on those tires, you'll get rubbing. and poor handling.

15's look perfect on a 6n when its dropped.

now anyone know about my 8" wide rims?

I've got a 40mm drop and 16" wheels with 195/45/16 tyres and I have no rubbing at all. Looks the DB's too!

Email me for a pic if you want.

i've seen cars running 8x18" rims with scrubbing at the rear when fully loaded.

i would imagine you'll get scrubbage on the front with full lock, and at the rear if carrying passengers. some major flaring will probably be needed to stop this (or some rock ard collies)

The 195-45 tyres would be the correct size, I've looked at 175-55-15 but that's too high and may be stretching it too far. An alternative is 165-50-15 but you have to be brave enough to attempt that (I'm considering it at the moment) and it won't stretch over an 8" wide wheel. So I guess you're stuck with 195-45.

Depending on the ET and whether or not you've rolled you arches you should be fine, 8" isn't that extreme yet. Ajay had them on his car, the WRD's in another post on this section. If you experience any rubbing, I'd say get the arches rolled - the look is probably worth the hassle!

speedy > winner 8)

i thought they were 8's on his, the wheels are BBS RM's (g60 ed1 rims for those that dont know) and the offset is et33 from memory when standar 6.5j size. seen them on a polo at that size but it was a pic, and couldnt decide how close it was to the arch... cant be bothered working out the new offset the wheels will be either

penguin > winner.

was looking at my mates polo today and 15's just looks sooooo good. handles really well too. no slouch being that its a 1.4 16v and was keeping it very close to a 6n2 GTI.....

Brian,

I heard through the grapevine that 6,5*15 RM's are making a noticable wave on the scene next season, running ultra skinny tyres too. Shhh!

 i actually had that as a guess but they dont look good on the polo n that size IMO, MK2 golf yeah, 6n polo no. and they're for the rado when i fancy so 8 fills the arches spot on. my mates running 9x16's on his rado so i have to compete a lil :D
