timing belt change (how much approx)

Been looking to get my timing belt changed, when i google it all i can find is estimates for golfs ( which i've heard are not easy to change thus hiking the price up a bit )
I'm in the uk so can anyone give me a quote of what to expect ?

My wife had her MK1V done at VW dealer 2 years ago for £240. Included new tensioner & alternator belt. My MKV same year, same bits, same dealer, cost £180. (They told me the MKV was easier to work on).
Cheap?

Before picking up my Mk5 (6n2) VW Polo on Saturday, I am having the Cam belt done at the garage where I am purchasing the car.
They have offered to do it for £95. I take it this is a good price? At first I thought I was being ripped off as other cars I have had only costed about £50?

As long as he does a good job though! Make sure you get a new tensioner and alternator belt too.

Will have to question him on that, He just said the cam belt would be changed.. Maybe thats why its so cheap?

And get the water pump done whilst you're there. The cambelt has to come off to replace it.
Cost me £150 for cambelt and water pump to be replaced.

^^ thats about right. Its best to get a Time belt kit compromising of all the belts needing changing. Big Boys Toys around mine charge £150 too so its not bad.

Well I questioned him about it earlier when I dropped off my insurance certificate so he could get my tax. He said that the Cam belt and the tensioner would be changed, but the alternator belt either didn't need changing or they wern't changing it :/
I guess i may be worth me having a look at it when I pick up the car on Saturday. The cam belt isn't being done until sometime next week as the mechanic is on holiday at the moment
