If you have the tools, save money and do it yourself. I only needed a basic set of spanners and sockets, trollery jack and axle stands. Took my old box out and refitted the new one myself, it's not a major ballache and theirs loads of people on here who would offer advice (I'm one). Where in essex you from ???

I'd recommend saving the £££ if you think you can do it. I however, don't have a clue so my garage charged £150 labour for removing then fitting again. Thats closer to the city in East London near Docklands.

To be honest, the hardest part was getting the new gearbox back into the car, hence the need for a trolley jack. The rest seriously is not hard at all, it just seems quite daunting removing/replacing a gearbox from a car if you've never done it before. Took me about a day disconnecting everything, dropping the old box, refitting the new box and clutch (seeing as you have the box off, might as well replace this) and reconnecting everything.
