1.9 Diesel?

Mate of mine was thinking of going to look at a mk4 polo diesel (1.9?) what sort of things does he need to look for?

unless its a high miler then it should be ok but look for exessive smoke and banging sounds and if you can fire her up from cold and look for a burst of smoke or exessive cranking time (oh yeah oil leaks too)

If possible, try to get the SDI version, not the simple 1.9D. The SDI has better performance (still a NA-diesel though) and better milage. It should also be somewhat more cultivated, i.e. less noisy.

No SDI's here! Just look out for smoke really. Make sure its got a good history. I have one. It never ever smokes. They only smoke if u dont let the glow plug light go off when u start it.
