Simple answer: No.

You can probably help yourself a bit by giving it regular services with good quality oil & components. Some fuel treatment (redex) to clean it out a little. Good quality petrol etc. It all helps.

Alot of people don't declare mods, puts their insurance sky high, ha. I haven't declared my wheels, don't think it'd want to, prob rob me another £500 or somthing.

Yes, it's a far better idea to pay less money for a policy that will be null & void should you make a claim.

suppose it depends on how far your modding. If your spending 1000's i guess its a good idea to declare them. A simple thing as changing your wheels could make the insurance not pay out. Not everyone can afford to declare mods and pay the extra. If insurance wasn't so high i bet people would declare more. I would i know that.

I went 2 years without mods cos started having bad luck and ran outta cash. Problem was, I already had the mods before funds decreased. To put it this way, I was turned away by most insurers as soon as mentioned a set of cheap alloys!

However, declared everything this time around with HIC and everything apart from an induction kit is cosmetic. It does help cos now I can sleep well and even when driving not fear and keep day dreaming if I had an accident i'm foobared

Made a claim last year when the mods weren't declared so used an accidents management instead of my insurers. Didn't have to pay them anything and my insurers didn't get to asses accident and notice undeclared mods. To help myself, I stripped most mods before handing the car over to the specialists. Atleast now i'd get a little bit if mods got stolen, broke etc and wouldn't have to go through hell I did last time.

 Best thing to do is ask your insurer your thinking of adding the mod and see what they say. If its viable then include it the next week and if not then don't do it.
