Put it this way if you change your alloys you will have to match up an identical size tire but with different profiles otherwise your breaking the law.

For example on 15 inch alloys on the 6n you will need 195/45/15's which would be identical to the stock tire size on the stock steelies or alloys. But if you where to have a bigger profile you would feel more of a smoother ride but here's the problem!

Bigger sizes can cause rub, such as the 195/50 profile will rub at full lock. Then theres the huge legal issue in regards to speed, because of the bigger profile such as 195/50 your wheel/tire circumference becomes bigger, meaning one resolution covers a bigger distance. This means your car is going faster than what the speedo is saying. Which is breaking the law as your odometer will think you covered a shorter distance than you really did as well as your speedo will give faulty readings. Its a pain with speed camera's as well as when your doing 28mph on 195/50's your really doing 30mph and as you get faster the speed error becomes greater such as at 82mph you'd be doing 90mph and at 88mph you will actually be doing 100mph.

So that's why you should keep to an appropriate profile that would match the stock tire size on different size alloys. Plus if the police where to ever find this out during a speeding offense or car crash then consider yourself even more f**ked, I got away doing 100mph on wrong profiles once and lucky the guy was in a good mood and let me off, but its a risk I won't be taking again.

(oh yea is the door of the 3 door if so i'm buying :) )
