i was thinking of doing my alloys myself and had a go at one today and i did rush it as i needed to finish it to get it on the car to drive it but i know i was gonna have to redo it anyway.

first thing i need to know is, is the normal car paint u can get from halfords ok to use on wheels? obvously i only have to colour match them to each other n e way so its not a major problem the colour. and same with the primer and lacquer. or is there specific ones i need to use?

also where i got chips and scuffs and big chunks out so need to re-mould some bits of the very rim of the alloy, can i use normal body filler or is there a specific filler stuff i need to use on these wheels?

also anyone have n e advice on doing this apart from cover tyre properly as i found out when doing my test one.....

Best thing to do would be to take tires off, if not deflate them and you can slide it back abit.

I never really use halford paint as what it shows on the tin and how it comes out are different (bad experience patching car up), but on alloys I imagine it wont make a difference whether it be, dealers, plastikote or Halfords paint as long as your doing the entire wheel, otherwise I believe there is alloy matching color paint if your doing odd patches. As for the filler, normal body filler will do.

cheers for the help. theyre good guides. wil probably have a go at them properly tomorrow but might start witht he filler tonight if i have time so i got a head start.
