my throttle body... bigger one?

I have a 2.0L golf throttle body here on my desk.. as usual im planing things which will never work but seems good in my head..

Would this fit onto an AEX engine? I mean .. it looks a bit diffrent so i could make an adapter plate and cut a bigger port into the AEX plenum chamber? Obviously i dont plan to just do this.. its gunna be part of when i tune up the top end with bigger porting etc.. ? It doesnt have an electronic butterfly thing so ECU might get a bit confused.. but i guess it can run without this?

Any ideas ? :D

Think the electronic side is vital. But I dunno as I've never tried running it without the electronics off.

Try disconnecting the TB plug/socket and drive round the block. Let us know how it goes and how vital or not so vital the electronics are :)

I also know that a Audi 1.8 20V has an ideal TB that is 60mm opposed to the 40mm standard one, with identical electrical sockets and electronics, so it will fit perfectly just got to make it sit (Jarno advised me on this before, so its thanks on his half).

Hope it helps

sounds like an interesting prospect let us now how you get on.

only thing i would say is is it really worth it? and im not on about just tuning the AEX hell no im all for that despite what people say. How much extrapower could really be gained from it?

ive always been curious as to whether amk2golf GTI 16v manifold throttle body and injection system could be made to fit. that has a twin butterfly on it and causes much sexy nosie in the engine

Im not looking to gain huge power, more a case of getting in more air when i start playing with turbos..

Now im not sure about the Mk2 16v, I have all the stuff off a Mk3 8V here to do a fuel system conversion but as far as i can tell, the manifold bolts are diffrerent so prbably wouldnt work, its made to sit with the exhaust manifold as its not a cross flow head like the AEX is. but i will have a look when i start stripping the AEX Down, If that plenum chaber fits i may fit a audi 1.8 TB onto the MK3 golf manifold, got the nice sound and the electronics then, but its never that simple! I will see how i get on with the electrical side of things! hopefully i will know enough about megasquirt by then to not need to worry about it :D
