Hi,

I'm sort of part way through changing the cambelt, but I've hit a problem... I have a Haynes manual, but it's not helping me. So here's the questions...

- What's the easiest way to get the waterpump off?
- Is there a more helpful guide to replacing the belt?

Cheers,

M

HI, WHEN I CHANGED MY CAMBELT, I LINED UP THE TIMING MARKS AND THEN FED THE BELT ROUND THE PULLEYS, KEEPING THE SIDE OPPOSITE THE TENSIONER TAUGHT, ROUND WATER PUMP AND UP TO THE CAMSHAFT SPROCKET. YOU THEN NEED TO WIND THE ENGINE ROUND FROM THE CRANKSHAFT BOLT UNTIL THE BELT SLIPS ON TH THE CAM PULLEY. DOUBLE CHECK THAT ALL TIMING MARKS ARE CORRECT AND WIND THE ENGINE ROUND SEVERAL TIMES TILL YOU ARE SURE THAT ALL IS OK, IF YOU DONT GET IT RIGHT, KEEP TRYING TILL YOU DO. THIS WAY YOU DO NOT DISTURB THE WATER PUMP AND I HAVE HEARD FROM A MECHANIC FRIEND OF MINE THAT MANY GARAGES DO THIS. I KNOW IT IS NOT IN THE MANUAL BUT IT SAVES A LOT OF HASSLE.
