Currently looking at a modified MK5 as my first car.
Had a look at a 1.4 8v 5 door MATCH and just wondering whats the average price for these
The modifications are:
Front bumper (smoothed)
Side skirts
Debadged front and back with a pop open boot
OZ alloys
lowerd 35 mil
new exauhst system
sound system

Its been serviced and MOTd regurally.
Done just under 75,000 miles
51 plate

Cheers

I just recently paid just under 4K for a SE model (only 8V though!!!) 5 door, with full mot and tax. From an independent VW dealership. Mint model, in and out. Just alloy scrapes. 3 Months warrenty, which i used as water pump went!!

So doesnt sound too bad if its got a good history and its clean

Plus mine had only done 50k miles.

Go for it!

Too expensive, and plus it's modified, so there's a liklelihood that it's been ragged by its previous owner. I sold my 1.0E with 36k for £2.8k. Stick to the 1.0E as a first car and you'll do no wrong.

And I doubt most insurers will insure a new driver on a modified Polo, to be fair, you'd best stick with standard then start modifying when you gain some NCB.

i got a 6n2 1 litre to..... join the gang :D its modified but not finished.

4k i think is a bit high but if u want it try to knock him down a couple of hundred or so.

personally id go for a standard one then do all the work myself........which i have done n e way and most people do. then they know how its been run and wats been done to it etc.

but for the record just cause its modified dont mean its been thrashed but there is a good chance. i dont thrash mine. its cause ive owned this car since buying it from the vw garage i know wat has been done to it modifications and mechanically so i know how its been looked after and wats been modified and mechanically done to it.

NEW PARTS (AND WORK DONE) SO FAR IVE HAD:
engine rebuild
gear box rebuild
new clutch
new battery
new pedal box
new brake light switch
new temp sensor
new speed sensor

thats obviously not the mods...... but if wat i said makes n e sense u know where im coming from.........

Yeah i didnt want to pay that but I couldnt let a clean car pass. Started modding myself. If you cant get insured on a Gti they wont insure on on a highly modified car.

I used to have a Type R (03) , churchill cost me £900, then got a 1.4 Polo and they wouldn't insure me with an induction kit!!!!!!

MENTAL!
