Shortening door pins, advice wanted please

I've seen and heard a lot of you guys shortening your door pins. They look 5x better when sitting flush. Just wondered if everyone could drop down how they did theres as i'm not sure of the best way. Either cutting pins / rods and how the did it and how much they cut off. Cheers

Yeah I have seen the odd picture. No guides. Just wondered which was is best. Seen some cut 1.5cm of the rod then glued the pin onto it. Also heard that some have cut down the actual pins.

I'd like to know the best way too. A couple of threads link to a Spanish forum, where the thread doesn't exist any more

yeah i've tried that one too. My spanish isn't as good as it used to be
Think cutting the pins may be best as if you make a hash of it you just buy new pins, rather than shorten the rods.

Looks great mate. Always worried about cutting something like that incase I need to reverse it.

The bars should be easily replaceable if needed, from a scrapyard etc.
I have actually made my own bars in my girlfriends car from a wire coat hanger as the bar had been removed by a previous owner. Works a treat.
