Just wondering if its possible to disable the passenger side airbag on a 99V Reg Polo for baby reasons? If not will prob have to sell the car!

I've just bought a 51 plate 6N2 Polo and the passenger airbag is disabled (it has a label to the left of the glove box warning you of this).
I believe it was done at the VW dealership (annoying that there isn't a simple switch like there is on some cars).
I want to reconnect mine as I don't have any tin lids to put in the car!
So if I find out how to reconnect mine I'll let you know how to disconnect yours!
And if you find out first can you post on here please!

I was just going to ask the same thing. My wife has a 6N2 2001 polo 3 door and she wants the baby seat in the front.
Anyone know if it can be done by VAGCOM ?

I don't think it can. I believe there something similar to a resistor pack on the connector facing the loom which stops the airbag light from coming on when it is disconnected.
I've got the invoice at home I think they charged (the previous owner) £15 for the "kit" plus an hours labour (£75 + VAT!).
When I get time I'll look into it.
Probably just take the battery off then pop this "terminator" off and reconnect it, stick the battery back on and hope for the best!

Don't think many people would want to do that with thier child in the front!

I'm not going to reconnect it with a small child in front of it!
And my concern is that it could go off upon reconnection, not that it won't go off once reconnected and the SRS system does it self check (and the airbag light goes out etc).
It should be all good but the important thing is to take the battery off for 30mins before reconnecting it.
If it hasn't got power it can't go off (unlike some seatbelt pretensioners which work on force - sudden massive decceleration - or using a rattle gun to undo them as a friend found out to his surprise).
