Non working fogs

My front fogs aren't working, haven't had time to look at them properly yet. I'm going to check that:
1. The fuse is ok
2. They have bulbs in

(genious)
3. The connections are clean
4. There's power at the lights
5. The switch works (hopefully be working before here)
Anything I've missed?

Sounds like you've covered everything.
Did anything change recently? I took my bumper off but forgot to plug the fogs back in when refitting.

No, they weren't working when I got the car (monday). They share the same fuse as the rear fog, which is working so it can't be that. They are pretty dirty (can't see bulbs), I expect the connections are corroded. How do you take the fogs out. Is it just a matter of unclipping and unscrewing. I'll have a good look on saturday.
PS. Do you know how much it is for a new set of fogs?

New fog lights aren't that expensive, but the housings are... Expect around €60 each. Removal depends on the type of bumper you have, if it's the one-piece, it's pretty hard to get to all the screws. Two can be reached from the front, but the other is more or less hidden. Perhaps if you have a lift/bridgethingie you can get to it, otherwise you may want to take off the bumper. Have a good look to be sure though, maybe it's just me.
The lights can be taken out from behind the bumper, you should be able to get to them if it's raised up. The contacts are clipped on, the lights are twisted in place. Or at least the cap that covers them is.

Found the problem, there's power at the fogs but they were both swimming with water, one was cracked, they're both corroded badly, so I've taken them out. Had it on a ramp but couldn't get them out without removing most of the bumper screws, I have a one piece bumber. It wasn't easy believe me.
I know you can be failed an MOT for non working fogs, if they're fitted they must work, as I've taken them off can anyone confirm this will be ok?
Can I get an exact price from anyone (in £ sterling if poss) for a new set of fog lights with housing and everything.

I believe you - taken the bumper off a couple times now and it's a PITA. Too many screws and clips that want to break.
Can't help you on the price of the lights unfortunately, my price list is in € and hopelessly out of date.

The other thing I've been thinking about is getting some cheap fogs from somewhere and mounting them in the same holes, with a possibility of using the glass from the old ones to make them look original.
What do ya think?

Could work, but it would take some effort to get them in properly (and alligned). I'd just replace them 'cos I'm lazy.
