Well I visited PipeWerx the other day to get the crappy standard downpipe replaced....
Now these guys deserve a plug.... Ian's skills at making exhausts are unbelieveable...
He was just offering a few bits of pipe up to the car, bit of welding, bit of grinding, bit of machine work... and out fell a fantastic 2.5" downpipe...
AMAZING - you can tell he has made thousands - I bet he could make one in his sleep..
I've opted for DECAT and left standard exhaust (theres hardly any restriction in the standard exhaust after the cat - it only has one box right at the end. Noise level inside is fine - sounds much nicer at the rear - it can bop and fart now.. hehehe
We had a good chat and a healthy bag of chips after his mornings work.
So if you fancy getting exhaust upgrades then see Ian at PipeWerx..
Polo 1.8T GTI prices...
Downpipe 2.5" with Decat is £225 + vat
Downpipe 2.5" with Hiflo Cat £425 + vat
Exhaust from Cat back is £325 + vat
Hand made to perfection. He uses proper good parts to make them (not like the chinese s**t that cracks after a few miles)
Don't doubt his pedigree - Hes worked for VW and Blueflame and owned the remowned DUBSPORT.
Anyway thats the plug over - J

Yorks GT TDi.....I intended to take loads of pics... but then the phone started ringing with work.....
then we had the bag of chips....
And then when I got home I realised I had no pics of the actual downpipe.. lol
..................................................................................................
Whitepolo....
they mount the sensor so hopefully it doesnt see enough gas to activate the light... I've only done 70 miles so far but no man light.
The downpipe just joins the standard exhaust at the sleeve.... so at MOT time you can just put the old pipe back on... dead easy.
I will see what happens with the man light and if needed get it written out with software

Yes it does look a bit orange... but the camera on the PDA is a bit S**T...
but its so easy to use then just email myself the pictures...lol..
Jeff... Junction 18 M6.... Middlewich CW10 0JG.... mbc and n249 bypass easy...
Got the office since I broke my ankle - but thats nearly fixed now...
Put stage 2.5 software in today.... wow the little Polo is so strong...
Now making approx 230bhp at just 1.1 bar at 6,000rpm

and it is lovely and smooth. The K04-001 just keeps on pulling..hehehe
More is available but I want to put FMIC on first to make it safe.
(map still needs work because it was making to much boost without MBC control and also maxing out the MAF !! - struggling with limp at 1.5+ bar it made almost 250bhp)

WHAT GAINS OR RATHER, BENIFITS WILL I SEE FROM THE MBC AND N249 BYPASS?
AND WHAT SORT OF MONEY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?

Hi Jeff..
you are successfully running the J valve which makes things smooth so no real need to do either MBC or N249 bypass..
I used the MBC to control the boost overshoot you can get with the F valve with the aggressive mapping I was using.
I use it at the moment for the same reason on the K04-001, boost is lovely and smooth but it gets carried away and hits limp.... so I can stop this with MBC set at just below limp pressure or at actual requested max boost which is how I have it. (it will be fixed by software eventually)
The N249 bypass allows for a faster dump through the DV as it gets direct vacuum connection rather then to N249 (and the car cannot dump whenever it feels like it).
Jeff... you are more than capable of doing both mods yourself

PipeWerx mount the sensor in such a way to minimise the chance of the light coming on... its not come on yet but i've not done that many miles.
But I can always get it removed by software if it appears
