hi all just joined up, mainly to help out a mate he has got a 1.0 6n and with my help is going to start moddifying it.

he has just ordered a badgless grill but im not sure how ithe original will come off, tried searching but am getting a couple of conflicting comments so can anyone shed some light on it? preferably with some piccies of the clip locations?

also while on the subject he is saving up for some alloys, and think he quite likes the look of some new ripspeed ones. was wondering if its possible to fit 195/50/15s as people say its better with the 195/45/15s but not sure if u can get them on the ripspeed ones

Welcome to the site Supraking! :)

Grille is easy to remove. Obviously with bonnet open, use a flat bladed screwdriver to release the retaining lugs (four at the top & one at the bottom). Then lift lift grille gently to clear support pegs & Presto!

Best to stick with 195/45/15, as there will be no change in speedo reading. If you went for the taller 50 profiles it would knock it out slightly.

Read this guide, it may help:
How to read your Tyres.

Hope that helps.

As mentioned the grille comes off quite easily with the aid of a flat head screwdriver.

I had Ripspeed rims  but I opted out of them as they look cheap compared to some of the familiar alloys people get for polos. 195/50/15's are ok, at low speeds its not knocked up as much. However, at top speed you might see an extra 5mph so the difference isn't wort worrying about.

I got 3 tyres for sale, I opted for 195/45/15's yesterday after a puncture so changed all of them to stop the scrubbage. This will only happen if your cars too low. So if you like I could sell you 3 Falken performance tyres with plenty of meat left on em.

165/50/15 would look more euro, stretched look. I agree, Ronals would look awesome, or a set of Artec Cups, or PA's

165/50/15 should be cheapish and being stretched will look better too. id say go for that in my opinion.

only prob is this is gunna become hard to get done as ill have to buy the wheels and tyres seperate then get them fitted, which will prob cost more than just buying a package.
you got any links that might help us out?

luckly for me i get tyres cheap, currenly gettin my girl some for when she gets her Atec PA's. Find a local recomended tyre place, see what deal they can do you. 195/50/15 will be cheaper then 45 profiles too. Also depends what tyres you want to, make wise.

its only a 1 litre so tyre make wont matter much, i did think it would be easier to get the 50s but i heard they rub some so decided on the 45s. wonder what mini sport can do on some minilites :)

Package deals of wheels & tyres can be good value, however as you found out they are put together by 'bean counters', & will not always give you what you really want.

Best bet is to look around & find some top rims & get a set of tyres for them separately. That way you will get the exact look & style you want, not someones 'special offer' that everyone could have!

Will be slightly more expensive yes (unless you can find a bargain somewhere!), although you will be able to do something unique to your own car.
