In the past couple of weeks my rear passenger door has failed to open when using either the inner or outer door handles. I've pulled back part of the door panel and can see that when you pull the inner door handle the mechanism is activating the latch end of the door but it won't open. When you turn the key in the front doors you can hear the motors in the rest of the doors but not the rear one. Does this therefore mean that the wiring has perhaps broken or could it be a solenoid ? Any help provided will be appreciated.

Is it anything to do with the child lock staying on?

From taking the door panel off I can see that the child lock is off. Really puzzled by this one but looks like its a common fault on VW's. I suspect it's something electrical but I've checked the wiring that goes from the front door to the back and can't see where it might be trapped. I've also checked the fuses and they are OK. Think it's time for a garage to check it out - blank cheque time !!!
