Lowering/coilovers

How easy is it to do each?
Is it easier to lower through original suspension (short springs, as i understand it), or easier to fit coilovers?

I'm a bit confused as how to go about each of them anyway...

Any guides floating about, i can't find any?!

Sorry for s**t first post, was tired from the gym.

To fit lowering springs you'll need a spring compressor, and to dismantle your current shocks, alternatively you can buy a lowering kit/coilovers which come ready assembled, far easier and safer than using existing shocks IMO.

Either way, pretty simple to fit, there's a guide HERE

coilovers are the easiest option Imho and better as you can adjust the hieght! were as springs isnt and coilovers give a better ride normally

Read that guide, seems pretty damn easy.
When i get up and driving i may do it, just wanted to see how easy it is etc.

Does it affect the ride alot?

Thanks all.

of course it affects the ride, just remember to get all your tracking and camber done though or you will be chewing through your tyres and wont handle aswell if it isnt set up correctly

ive had lowering springs and now have coilies and can honestly say after seeing them done in person, my godfather did them both for me, i can honestly say replacing with coilovers is a piece of p***. springs, as mentioned, u have to take the shock of the car then take it apart then rebuild it with the new spring then replace it, coilies u just take old one of and put new ones on. simple!!!

if u use lowering springs the ride quality will be bouncy, where as coilivers, as soon as i got them on i noticed such a major difference and i got cheap coilies, but if u go over a bump or speed bump u bounce a bit then settle, with the springs u bounce up and down like a bouncy castle. and so does everyone else in the car.

also wheather u get springs or coilies u will have to get the camber (tracking) and allignment done, admittedly depending on how low u get it lowered by depends on how much it will affect the steering.

i lowered mine and now its settles i wanna lower it more then get the tracking and allignment done.....

word of advice tho, be warned how low u get it done and when u get ur tracking and allignment done. originally i had mine on and it was so low i drove around for about a day or 2 and when i took it to the garage he said it was already wearing the tyres out but luckily it wasnt bad enough to need new tyres.

sometimes it is not easier to just take them out, your new coilovers may not come with new top mounts(very unlikely) so you still need to compress the spring to get the top mount off and getting the top mount of is vey hard without the correct tools

but its advised to get new top mounts anyway when u change ur suspension, my coilies came with them anyway.

Ah yeah, new top mounts makes sense.

How would you do the Camber anyway? Can i take it for a garage to do, or do i have to set it up?

The garage will do the camber when they do the tracking
