Hello All,

Yes another newbie!!

Stumbled across this site whilst looking for bits for my "w" reg polo GTI. Have to say going through most of the GTI threads there's been a lot of information I've been looking for, all here which is great thanx a lot to you all!!!!

So after reading through most of them and waying up the options I can say that hopefully in the not too distant future, my currently un modified Polo will get the following treatment.

K&N panel filter

Cat back exhaust (not sure which one, personal views appreciated, things like ease of fit, good sounding, cost etc would be appreciated)
H&R Springs (-35mm)

MP3 headunit (probably the sony CDXM850MP)
New speakers all round (lots of comments please, would like to know size's of what's already there and what you recommend as I haven't bothered to take the cards off yet ;))
Stealth Shelf with Infinity 6x9's
Sub & Amp (undecided)

So what do we think ???

Should be doing the performance mods first and hopefully most by the end of March (student loan's are great :))

Cheers

DW

Hi and welcome to the club!

Right then:

K&N Panel Filter - Good Plan, it's not too expensive and is a good addition.

Exhaust - I've not changed mine because I can't find one I like. The Magnex one is built very well, but the backbox is bloody massive!

H&R Springs - Another good choice if you're on a budget. If you can afford them, coilovers are the future, but at around £600 plus fitting, they're not cheap!

MP3 Headunit - Try to steer clear of Sony HU's nowadays... They're nowhere near as good as they used to be. Try Pioneer or Alpine.

Speakers - "Focal PolyGlass 165" or if you're on a budget "Focal Access 165". You don't need any in the back, at all. Disconnect the standard rears, get yourself a decent 4ch amp... Amp the fronts and get a nice sub for the boot. Seriously, if you're into Sound Quality, this is the way to go.

Good luck!
