im a little concerned about something here boys and girls. now the day i gotmy car i tried to push it to the limit. i had to knowwhat it can do. i generally drive rather sensibly, but when i boot it sometimes...

basically what im getting at is if i take the car over 5500rpm and change into second it crunches big style. it does this in no other gear except this one. should i be onto the warranty people or what? i know theres no real point in taking it past that amount of revage its just plain unnessesary. However though i do question the integrity of the gearbox now having had this problem. anybody else had the same? this isnt something ive done to it myself btw it happened the first and everytime after (well virtually) i took it past 5500rpm. the car is off course second hand when i got it it did have a drivers side bald tire which made me think hmmmm... wheelspins...

any help or advice appreciated guys

doesnt sound normal - mine doesnt do it...

There is a thread about VW doing a gearbox flush and oil change free of charge if you go in and ask them as there is an issue with some of the gearboxes fitted to the earlier cars.

Also remember Jeff saying he had a gearbox renewed under warranty as he had issues with his.

yh i mite have to do the same my one doesnt lyk goin into 3rd if revs a high

absolutel legends all of ya thanks for the help we be getting onto vw about the oil change and the knocking. i thought that was just me lol.
