gearbox (REPLY A.S.A.P PLEASE)

hi deos any one know the two differences between the gearboxs for a mk4 6n 8v. cus i rang a breakers yard up and they said theres two dfifferent linkages or something and i wonderd if anyone could tell me what mine might be and what i need to look for to get the right one, as mine is fooooooooooooked.

also i herd that if you put a diesel gearbox in it adds performace cus the ratio is higher?? or something. and does any one know where i can buy a performance clutch from as ill be changing that whilst im there. need replys a.s.a.p please as i want it done before the weekend. i need my car for work :O:O
