Car is just coming to the end of its of warrenty now and im on 35,000 miles Next real service is 40,000 but is due now when it comes to the date.

Would you lot advice i pay 250 and get VW to do the service which is what they hav quoted

or

spend the money on performace parts panel filter coloured ht leads, pipes ,perfomace plugs etc and get a good garage to fit them.

if it makes a difference i love this car so much cant see myself getting rid of it for another 3-4 years yet, just cant find any reason too, unless depreciations hits the r32 very very hard.

I'm planning on keeping mine for ages too, so I get my local VAG Specialist to service the car now.

I get genuine VW Oil & Filter change every 5k and I have a K&N Panel Filter that doesn't need swapping.

I change my plugs whenever I feel like it (although I won't be doing them again until they need replacing as I have treated her to NGK Iridium IX plugs this time).

I have my fuel filter changed every 10k and my pollen filter changed whenever it looks dirty.

I basically do better than it tells me in the service book (and it costs me a hell of a lot less than taking it to VW!)

Get somewhere you trust to do the service, but not VW as you pay for the stamp but nothing else - a stamp from another garage is just as good in most people's eyes anyway.

Personally, I do the same as Josh with my mkiv but hardly ever take it to a dealer except for cambelt / ecu check / other checks. I think if you keep receipts and prove you service it regularly then you'll have no problems selling it on eventually - and why bother paying the premium if you can do it yourself and be assured it's right.
