Service Experience at JBS

I've been planning to have some work done on my Golf for while and decided to give JBS a call for a quote. They took all the details of the work I required and then called me back at the time we had agreed with a quote. I was more than happy with the price quoted so a couple of weeks after when I could manage to get day off I booked in, which happened to be last Friday.
So I took the car into JBS on Friday morning for the following: cambelt, tensioners, waterpump, dogbone mount inserts, exhaust mounts and exhaust alignment. On arrival I had a chat with Kev, the mechanic who was going to work on my car, he seemed very knowledgeable so I was happy to leave it with him while I ran some errands with Josh.
On returning to JBS I was invited into the workshop so I could watch the work being finished off and also discuss how it had gone. As they were just in the process of sorting the alignment of my exhaust they mentioned that the existing mounts were in good condition (despite another garage telling me they needed replacing) and that some of the bolts were loose. The upside of that though is that JBS didn't charge me for the exhaust mountings that I had ordered!
They then went on to show me the old water pump that had been removed; as far as I knew the car was running problem free. This is what the water pump looked like:

Sorry about the pic quality but you should be able to make out the large chunk missing from the impeller which was also cracked in several places.
So I'm glad I had that done!
Finally onto the dogbone mount inserts, Kev said that these had gone in no probs and had made a big improvement, particularly as the old ones were very worn. He also showed me that the upper transmission mount was in need of replacement, why VW didn't replace it when they changed the gearbox I don't know!
With the work finished my car was taken out for a quick road test and got the all clear on it's return.
James then took me for a demo in his NOS'd Octavia vRS.
On our return I found my car had been washed and a good job had been made of it, even the wheels which are a bit of a pain!
I then settled up the very reasonable bill and was on my way as a happy customer.
So if you need anything doing then I can highly recommend JBS. More info on what they can offer is here: http://www.jbsautodesigns.co.uk
