first of all this pic taken from mouse gti DIY guide
i have a polo 6n2 16v AFK 100bhp and i want to fit a 60mm air pipe for the wing to the orginal airbox (k&n inbox air filter not a bmc like in the picture).

i have two questions
1.the placed i marked with a circle in my car there is kind of spring in it
with is blocking 90% of the air coming from the wing i don't belive the air can push the spirng to open becuase i try to open it by pressing the spring and i wasn't easy at all!!
2.where i draw the arrow in the present car it doesn't connect to the manifold (he silled it with some kind of tape) but in my car there is a hose connect what is the job of this hose??

hope hear from you soon!
if you didn't understand let me know and i take some pictures from my car tommorow because now it's dark

thanks!!

The small hose is to draw warm air into the engine from the exhaust manifold to heat it up quicker on a cold day

As for the spring, thats temperature controlled. It will open up as and when the engine is up to temperature.

now i understand why everybody canceling this hose, i guess it's not necessary in warm country like mine, last thing my engine needs is the warm gas from manifold.

there is any problem to fit the pipe and cancel this spring.?
i don't really understand how the spring "knows" the tempertuer it's doesn't have any wiring or electricity there and it's need a strong push to open so i think maybe it's closed all the time....

thanks for your answers you helped me alot!!

You can take the whole factory air feed out and replace it with something more suitable if you wish with no problems mate.

Yeh just follow that guide Mouse made. rip out all the OEM piping and fit a less constrictive air feed.

I think I've seen it drilled and placed there before too. If it's safe I'd like to try it out also.
