and aside from the nail in the rear tire (which i wasnt aware off! so go them i guess) they say there is nothing wrong with my gearbox. The car has had the gearbox oil change but still crunches from first to second if given a bit of welly up to 5000rpm.... wtf mates im a bit mythed at what to do now.
They did say to me that maybe this problem only occurs once the car warms up a bit, after driving an hour or so... kind of makes sense i guess if the oil changes viscosity after being driven for a while. They say if i go down there when its making the noise they will get a mechanic to come out with me if there is one free and let them hear the noise! seems good fo them to suggest such a thing. i must say they were quite helpful down there im rather impressed.
the lady who was dealign with me also said that the polos may have a problem with the syncro mesh in the bo? i dont even know what that is lol. she said they are considering that ads a possible problem with the gearboxes that maybe causing them to crunch like they do.
still i do have a year of warranty left so maybe i should just try and break it then take it in and say " SEE NOW THE BROKEN GEARBOX DUM,B FUCKS HMMM?" lol.
id like to re-iterate that they were actually helpful and overall i am happy with the feedback i got bar the lack of a fixed GB.

why would you want to break it more, its only likely to cause more issues with more parts then, just keep taking it back, day after day after day, i did and got a brand new box out of it, a year on, mines still perfect with no issues at all
if you dont get anywhere, ask for the dealer number, and for them to provide you with details of vw uk, as you wish to make a complaint,
it will be suprising how quickly they come round to sorting it out

**I HATE DEALERS** Your story makes me so mad how they fob people off filling your head with bull sh1t and make you feel like you are the cause when the g/box is b0ll0cks!! keep taking it back and dont give the courtesy car back till its sorted, thats if you even get one, if all that fails abuse the box with no oil in till it starts whining then top it up again and run it to the dealers! Sorted!

i was joking when i said i wanted to break it more lol. though i must say i am considering it. the annoying thing is this is holding me up from getting a remap! as obviously when they do the full check on the car (and valet apparently which was nice) i dont want the warranty voided
so that means i need this sorted in the next month cause i know what im like with money and saving is a b***h when there is so many shiny things to buy for this car lol.
i need to try and get the car to do the noise and take it in to them. then i can give them a what for. maybe ill make a video. stick it on youtube and get them to watch it repeatedly while im standing there so they can then tell me there is no problem lol.

I missed any previous threads you may have made about this one mate. What problems and symptons are you having exactly?

if you take the car past 5000rpm from first to second it grinds into gear, or just grinds. Its not a good feeling lol.

Book it in with City VW - a bit of mission from you but they will sort it and give you a courtesy car, I can speak with them for you.

ooooooo isit now? whereabouts is this city volkswagen?? courtesy cars are always nice to thrash about lol. Just kidding i erm.. treat them with the respect and kindness they deserve lol.
and tim yeh it just crunches from first to second when going up through the gears. The other gears sometimes feel clunky, as if you can feel the cogs suddenyl lining up together but its not really a noticeable thing. the screaming grinding box however is lol.

Yeh can only be the gear itself mate, either that or the clutch happens to slip at the exactly same time all the time. Or the gear linkage isn't setup quite right but that's very unlikley, and if it were that it would struggle with 2nd every time you tried to change.
