1997 polo fuel gauge problem??

hi i am new on here the girlfriend has just got a 1997 polo auto(she doesn't like gears :roll: ).
i'm not sure if this is an electrical fault or not but here goes.
The fuel gauge is always reading full ,i have heard of people in other cars changing clocks and fixing problems like this,but i was just wondering if anyone on here had experianced anything similar?
any help would be appreciated cheers. :wink:

May be the sender unit that is part of the fuel pump, has it been changed? If so, it may not have been put back the right way round!

Sounds like a grounding fault. Check the wiring from the sender under the rear seats.

cheers for the responses guys will have a look under the rear seats at the earthing and hope that solves it.
where is the sender unit :oops: ? as far as i am aware it has not been changed :?:
will try the wiring first and keep you posted cheers again :wink:

Under the rear seats, it's part of the fuel pump. :D
