I've got them but never had any trouble (touch wood).
You face a £30 fine, and they'll ask you to remove them.

£30 fine, and given a MOT defect ticket, basically giving you so many days to put the proper plates on take it to a MOT tester, stamp the ticket and send it off, if you dont your Insurance Mot bla bla is VOID

The fact you want to put metal plates with illegal font & illegal spacings is asking to be pulled & done over!

Go to the following link
http://www.dubmeister.co.uk/ and click on uk legal plates. They now supply pressed plates complying to the current BSAU145d standards. No dodgy spacing or markings allowed mind, but it will be nice next time you get pulled to tell them to go scratch.

ahh
right then you can NOT alter the arrangement of the letter or numbering
eg. normal plate W344 KFE
Illegal plate W4 33 KFE for instance but as from the plates lettering character height width ETC then there fine

I have been followed a few times
lol
but I have never really been stopped. I have correct spacing with a font thats nearly uk style. Just dont drive like an idiot and you will be ok
