Basically i tried to fit in my own sony HU yesterday so i took out the standard VW HU out and then my sony HU was being funny so i decided to fit back the standard HU.

Now heres the problem, before i took out the Standard HU when i turned OFF the car but left the KEY IN the stereo would still be playing. But if i pull the key out from the ignition the stereo would turn off which is great.

But since yesterday when i pulled out the HU and then put all it back in like how it was, when i turn off the car with the KEY IN the stereo is still playing which is normal, but when i pull the KEY OUT it is still playing. So now i have to turn it off myself.(its fine, but its little things make life easier)

So i was wondering does anyone know what maybe the problem?

thanks

you have given your stereo a constand feed (basically connected the wrong wire)

you need to test a wire (using an low voltage electrical meter) that you have not connected up to become live when your ignition is turned on and then goes dead when the key is taken out. if you can find this wire then this is the cable that you must connect to your power connection

strange then :S

maybe its the connections in the socket on the back of the stero then, power connector might be in a different place to your older stereo

id still test the wires

so alex is it like this now with your new HU in? stil have to turn it off manually even when key is out?

adummy : im using the old HU still and i didnt tamper with anything so as far as i know its exactly the same as when i unplugged it.

I think the yellow wire is the " switched supply" wire isnt it, and by the way did you mean to get 1 of those lil screw driver look alike pens to test the wire?

On a seperate note where did everyone get a cubby hole for the hole thats left when you take out the HU? because theres the radio/cassete and the CD player 1. when you take it out there leaves a big gaping hole.

thanks

Dealer or scrappy for the cubby hole

No. The new one works perfectly. You probably need to switch the red and yellow wires - see what happens with that

In the end i had to put the yellow and red wire together onto the red wire coming from the car.

however, i took out today to fit it in properly into the car and what do you know...the stereo dont work again no more!..frustrated as i was, i put in the standard radio back in and now they both dont work!...>.<...

i just checked it all today and it seems like all the problems were fuse related  lol..well next time i will learn to check the fuses first...the first problem about the takin out the ikey from the gniton to switch off the stereo was due to blown fuse..and the stereo not playing was because of fuse  ..

thanks guyz :P
