POLO ROUGH IDLING

HI, I HAVE A 1991 POLO 1.3 WITH FUEL INJECTION, THE ENGINE THROBS AT TICKOVER BUT RUNS FINE OTHERWISE. I HAVE LOOKED FOR OBVIOUS GREMLINS, SPLIT VACUUM HOSES ETC TO NO EFFECT. I CHANGED THE PLUGS RECENTLY, ANY IDEAS ANYONE?

could be a leak from the inlet or throttle body

give idle control valve a clean out ?

I've had the same problem with my mk4 polo, and with my old scirocco - just a gummed up throttle body. Worth taking it off and cleaning it out with WD40 or throttle body cleaner.
Other than that, a good standard service never goes amiss - leads, dizzy cap, plugs etc
