Hi. I have a Y reg Polo 1.9 diesel. The wipers and washer pump do not switch off and the washer bottle is always empty! Any ideas any-one?
thanks for any replies.

You must have a leak somewhere. Check the seal on the bottom of the washer bottle as these often go. Also the washer pipe that runs to the rear wiper

yea the tube that runs from the tank to the rear wiper is where all my water was disappearing. Disconnected just where it connects to the water tank. if this is the case you may need to clear your rear jets as mine were bunged up.

Thanks for the replies both. I'll investigate it. Doesn't explain the erratic front wipers though. Or does it? I guess I might find out...............

I would imagine that would be some sort of relay problem.

Or an issue with the stalk

Thanks again for the response. I'll try another relay first. It sounds the most likely. I replaced the stalks about 18 months since albeit with used ones, although obviously it doesn't rule them out.

Well, it wasn't the relay.
Next thing is to try another stalk...................
P.S. The relay is buried so deep you have to take away loads of plastic dash to get to it. How ridiculous.

Thanks for the responses to my post. The problem was, as rightly suggested, a faulty stalk. Now all is well again. Don't suppose any-one has a solution to my problem over in Golf Mk. IV forum entitled NEW central locking problem.......... I've had 50 odd looks but not ONE response.
THANKS ONCE AGAIN.
