rear calipers removal

hi guys, im a newb polo owner looking for help :? . are there any tricks or tips for removing the rear calipers on my w reg 1.4 16v. i need to change the rear discs for the mot but i just cant seem to budge the two 8mm (i think 8mm) allen bolts that hold the calipers on. :oops: thankyou for any help. mark.

not really any tricks to it just a good heave-ho! spraying them with wd40 may help too.

Sounds like they need some Shock Loading.
Spray them with DW40 etc, then leave that for a while.
After put the allen key in, then when its in good, hit the end with a hammer, it should budge and then should be able to undo them normally.

If all else fails, take it to a garage and get them to loosen it with an air torx driver. then tighten it up by hand til you get home.

Theres a good chance youll need a caliper rewind tool to get them off. It can be also done with a G-Clamp or a pair of mole grips.

thanks for the help guys, the car is s.o.r.n at the moment so i cant risk driving to the garage. im going to give it another bash today. are the pistons on the calipers a left hand thread? thanks, mark.

Its bloody hard work with a G-clamp :lol:
