G40 in a Mk4

Im wondering if a few of you can help me, Im loooking into dropping a g40 in my MK4 after xmas.

Thing is i dont wana stop there i wana tune it but have no clue about engines really.

Obv i know the g40 uses a super charger and you can get bigger pullies but thats about it... any info would help, maybe if some ones done it already?

Cost?
Problems?

Well I dont know much about engines but im pretty sure that the G40 uses a turbo not a supercharger. The G60 does use a supercharger. But I have seen pictures with G40/G60 engines fitted. If you go to youtube you can see videos of polo's that have had it done. Cost, well im watching one on ebay to see how much they sell for and there is a G60 going at £400. My mate said that will fit but you will have to get other parts, tubing, hosing, different ECU and you would have to make mounts for it too. So really your probably looking at around £800? Depends if you fit it or get it done by a garage?

All the G-engines are supercharged. (no turbo's!)

As u've already said,you can change the pulleys, plus swap the charger for a modified version, change the injectors.

Probably loads more, just got to find more idea's!


Have a look at this post on swdubs, he's putting a modified G40 lump into a mk1 Polo. It will give a rough idea of what you are looking at!
